Camillo Encizo – Cacao Farmer
First and last name: Camilo Enciso Suarez
Residence: Planadas, Tolima
Family status: married
Age: 47 years old
Why do you have a passion for agriculture?
Rural areas give me peace; they are home to many families. Peace in Colombia comes when we have economic opportunities and prospects. I like that.
We work to improve our lives.
What are the advantages of working with Equiori?
We all take care of ourselves, we are self-sufficient and organic farming allows us to manage the field in such a way that future generations will also have a nutrient-rich soil and thus a basis for life.
They can then manage, cultivate and benefit from the fields as we do.
Thanks to Equiori, the quality of life for us smallholders is improving sustainably.
Sandra Olaya
First and last name: Sandra Olaya
Residence: Vereda Coloradas, Planadas, Tolima
Family status: Married, 2 children (Gabriela 2 years old and Luis Felipe 10 years old)
Age: 38 years old
Why do you have a passion for agriculture?
It gives me great pleasure to plant something, let it grow and see it sprout and flourish. It gives me even more pleasure when this happens in harmony with nature.
What are the advantages of working with Equiori?
The prices Equiori pays us for our grown products are fair. This encourages us to continue working in this sustainable way.
But we can also evolve, constantly improve and do things better through the knowledge we have learned about organic farming. But I also care a lot about the quality of the products I grow. It makes me happy when all this happens in harmony with natural conditions.
Giovanni Sanchez – Cacao Farmer
First and last name: Franky Geovanny Sanchez
Residence: Vereda Betania, Planadas, Tolima
Family status: Single
Age: 29 years old
Why do you have a passion for agriculture?
Rural areas are life, they are the place where our children grow up and where we sow future generations.
What are the advantages of working with Equiori?
Equiori chocolate is a 100% natural chocolate. The base, that is the cocoa, is grown and harvested by us. The proceeds from these harvests help us to improve our quality of life.
But it also encourages us to work sustainably and to pass all this on to a younger generation.
William Arenas – Peanut Farmer
First and last name: William Arenas
Residence: Ibagué, Tolima
Family status: married, 2 children
Age: 57 years old
Why do you have a passion for agriculture?
I grew up in the countryside and know nothing other than farming. But farming organically was new for us and immediately the right way for me. Only if we farm sustainably, without expensive artificial fertilizers, can we ensure that our children will be able to live off this land in the future.
What are the advantages of working with Equiori?
I am an agricultural engineer dedicated to training and improving the organic farming methods of Equiori farmers. It means a lot to me to be able to accompany the small farmers on their way to a sustainable future and to pass on my knowledge.
