Colourful on white, fresh and direct - that is our new packaging design.
The colours are bolder, the seasoning is in the foreground with the product name, because you can see the nuts either way thanks to the transparent bag.
On the back, you can get to know the person to whom we owe these delicious nuts. By scanning the QR code, you can find out more about the smallholder farmer who started our products.
Because we value their work so much, we also give more space to our "5 centimes for small farmers" programme: with every product sold, 5 centimes go to the Pakka Foundation to support projects in the countries of origin.
Our vision: CO2-neutral packaging. Made exclusively from renewable raw materials.
Even with the new packaging design, the vision remains a goal that has not yet been achieved. Thanks to the new welding method, we can save more than 70,000 metal eyelets per year when closing the bags.
And for the label, we use a sustainable FSC paper that can be recycled in the paper collection. In the choice of paper as well as in the printing itself, we are well advised by our long-standing partner Künzle Druck.
But: The big hurdle in terms of sustainability remains the bag. This consists of a plastic film (PP), which has excellent barrier properties thanks to its high resistance to oxygen and water - a key point when packaging food. It protects our nuts from premature decay and helps us to avoid food waste. Unfortunately, there is currently no market-ready, ecological packaging alternative that equally protects our nuts and guarantees their shelf life.
Nevertheless, we are sticking to our goal: We will continue to exchange ideas with various packaging manufacturers who specialise in sustainability. And we are already looking forward to a 100% plastic-free bag.
