Kardianuts literally means "nuts from the heart". The project involves setting up a sustainable model farm for organic and Fairtrade cashew nuts in rural Colombia. The aim is to bring economic added value and jobs to a structurally weak region.

An agroforestry system consisting of cashew trees and other crops such as peanuts, pineapples and mangoes is being established on an area of 2,500 hectares (equivalent to 25 km² or around 3,500 football pitches). The aim is to develop a stable system with high biodiversity, fertile soils and therefore good productivity - in the spirit of regenerative agriculture. With the support of Pakka, Kardianuts has commissioned a plant for the production of organic fertiliser to ensure the supply of nutrients and promote the regeneration of microbiology and soil structure.

In the meantime, the company has set up its own tree nursery to grow regionally adapted seedlings and thus ensure high-quality and sustainable cashew production in the long term. In addition to the farm's own requirements, the seedlings are supplied to small farmers and other landowners in the region. The experience gained from the model farm is used to support small farmers in setting up their own businesses. Kardianuts provides the land, capital and technical support so that the farming families can work independently as small entrepreneurs. Kardianuts then takes over the purchase of their products and markets them at home and abroad.

Pakka and Kardianuts: Investors sought for the expansion of cashew processing capacities

Pakka is an investor and project partner and is actively shaping the future of Kardianuts. With the 1,500 hectares of land now under cultivation, a harvest of over 50 tonnes of cashew nuts is expected at the beginning of 2025. As the volume increases, so does the need for professional processing. Kardianuts and Pakka are therefore currently looking for investors to build a processing plant.
